16/05/09 Day 3 Finally some Blood in APL

Dear all Bonafide signed players of APL!

There was sweat, agony, ecstasy and blood on day 3 of APL 2009.

APL day 3 saw a few changes in Kolkata Kakus with Susu and Lalu not fit for the matches. Kakus had roped in 2 foreign players Rohit and BKJ to fill the void.

 Line Up :

MUMBAI MAMUs: Bichchhu( Capt), Sanki, Chinki, Barysingha, Mangallam, Mucchad Dada(wk)

KOLKATA KAKUs:Ogun( Capt), Appai, Tarzan. Debut : Rohit, BKJ,Mucchad Dada(wk)

So day 3 started with Mamus  batting first in the first match. Chinki and Bichchhu held on with the bat for quite some time but could only post a modest target of 31.
When Ogun's team came on to bat, the total seemed a modest one. But Susu's absence had made a void in the batting team, and Lalu's last night hangover made him sleep for a few more hours. So Team KK opened with Appai and Tarzan.

Slowly and steadily their ship sailed ahead, and BKJ steered KK to the shores. Chinki did an impressive spell but had to go wicketless.  Sanki and Bichchhu shared 2 wickets each.
Meanwhile Susu gave a visit to the match in formals, as he had to go for his part time work at the Hotel. After all APL doesnt pay much!

Match 2:

In match 2, MM mainted their toss winning streak and chose to start bat first. Barysingha and  Mangallam started the proceedings. Bary didnt last long but Mangal tore the bowlers apart. Comments started coming that he was having extra dinners outside, allowing him to hit like that, but that didnt stop him. Then came the days moment.

Bichchhu's arrival at the crease was jeered by Tarzan as describing him as the "Nightwatchman". Every dog has his day, so it was his..Who is the "his"..we will come to it later.

Bichchu hit Ogun over the bowlers head, and Appai was scratching his a**, wondering whether Bichchu did something in "there" last night.T he last over was to be bowled and Bichchhu was on strike. Surprisingly, KK having no options left, gave the balls in hands of Tarzan for a mini over. barring the first ball, the other two went for huge sixes..So Bichchhu gave his reply to Tarzans comment earlier in the day.

Tha last 3 balls were bowled by Appai, who was also hit all around the park by Bichchu..May be he had really done something to Appai last night!

In all Bichchhu hit 5 6's and 3 4's.

In reply, KK started with Appai and Tarzan, keepin Ogni for the hitting part later on. Sanki started with the ball. As always, he took a wicket and Rohit came on to bat, Ogun came as a runner. Soon, along with the runs, wickets also started falling. There was a tight bowling spell and great fielding, and somewhat "ÖK type"  wicket keeping by. Ogun had to produce some fireworks.Started hitting the ball around, but it wasnt his day.The rookie leg spinner, Chinki was back in the hunt for wickets at a crucial stage and took 4 wickets. With the last wicket falling, MM celebrated their win. Chinki got hit in his skull  by some foreign particle(thrown by the opponent's fans), but it happens like that with great players.

So a engrossing day where teams shared the honours with the series getting more juicy and currently at 4-4.

Board Decisions taken:

1.    Neeraj and Tarzan are  called for the hearing today evening 6 PM during team meetings at the colonial stadium.
2. Players are supposed to come in APL jerseys, sponsored by Krittva .

10/05/09 Day 2....

Hi All,

APL day 2 saw some exhilarating matches with KKR holding their nerves to defeat the MI 2-1.

The teams saw a couple of changes with KKR roping in Somil Joshi from MI's in absence of Rojin Raju and Neeraj Kumar and the the MI’s saw the debut of the rookie leg spinner-Kunal Jain in place of Dada. The ground conditions were good for playing and the pitch had something in for both the batsmen and the bowlers.  APL day 2 also saw the inclusion of the free hit rule.

The first match was won by KKR in a tensely fought battle where the MI’s failed to chase a modest target of 58 set by KKR. The MI lost the match by 15 runs. Shovik was the star batsmen of the match and Agni-Soumitra-Somil chipped in with a couple of wickets.

The second match went down the wire with the KKR losing the match by 2 runs..Bhavya took 3 wickets(action approved by ACCand the APL BOD's) for MI and Sir Shubham castled Agni's stumps  in the penultimate over to record a famous win over KKR.

It was expected to be a cracker of a series decider but came out to be an anticlimax..The MI electing to bat failed to capitalise on the good start given by the very dependable Pandeyji and Barry...They were bundled out for 38...The KKR chased down the target with 3 overs to spare thanks to some erratic bowling by Sir Shubham and Bhavya.....

So after an exhilarating day 2 of APl, the series now stands at 3-3.. A couple of tactical changes are expected from both the sides..

The next round of matches are scheduled on 17th May …The players missing from the match (Neeraj,Rojin and Debayan) have to justify their absence from the match to the BOD’s and only then they will be allowed to play in the next round of matches…..

Keep Playing,

Thanks and Cheers,
